Selecting wedding music can be an easy task or overwhelming for some couples. Surely, you’ve got an awesome DJ who is attentive and helping you with the music selection process. But, if you want to get a headstart, here’s a little guide to help you out.
Ceremony Music
Start a new playlist in your favorite music app that allows you to share a playlist such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, or Pandora. This lets you and your partner collaborate on compiling your wedding music together. You’ll need song/music for the following non-denominational ceremony:
- Processional song for the groom and wedding party
- Processional song for the bride
- Recessional song for the exit
The music can be classical or instrumental versions of popular songs. For religious ceremony music, please check with the clergy or music director, or church coordinator.
Reception Music
You’ll need at least a song or music for the following reception program:
- Grand entrance for wedding party
- Grand entrance for bride and groom
- First dance
- Father/Daughter Dance
- Mother/Son Dance
- Cake Cutting
- Bouquet Toss
- Garter Toss
- Last Song
