Let’s chat about creating a wedding website today. Why do you need one? It’s a central source of information about your wedding. The old school way of providing wedding information is through the invitation and various insert cards. You can definitely go that route as well, but you can only fit so much content on a 5×7 card. If you’re only relying on snail mail to communicate with your guests, you might run into some hiccups down the line.
Information to include on the wedding website
Before you start a wedding website, consider what information you want to post on there. It may take some time to write and gather pictures. Here are some ideas:
- About you – not everyone knows your fiancé/e, so including a short about me section would let your guests get to know you better
- Love story – share how you met and fell in love. When was the moment you knew, who proposed and how. Your friends and family would want to read the story.
- Wedding Party – The celebration is not complete if your besties aren’t part of the wedding. If you have a wedding party, list who they are and their roles. Photo is optional but it helps put a face to the name. You can also opt to add a short bio, how you know each other, or why they’re important in your life.
- Event information – Tell your guests when and where the wedding will be held. Include the venue name, address, date, and time. You can also add directions, google map link, illustrated map, or photos of the venue to help your guests find the place.
- Accommodations – If you’re expecting out of town guests, consider getting a block of rooms at a Hotel nearby your wedding venue. The hotel may give you a group booking link or a group code to share with your guests. You can also include a list of local attractions and places to visit while they’re are in town.
- Gift Registry – If you’re register at department stores or online shops, you can add the gift registry link here. You can also add honeymoon fund and other monetary gifting options.
- RSVP – Many templates websites already have the function to allow guests to RSVP online from your website. It will include a fillable form to enter name and entree selection. The RSVP will be recorded to a database and you’ll be able to export as a spreadsheet when working on seating chart and calculate final guest count.
- Photos – Everyone’s favorite section would have to be the photo gallery. If you’ve saved photos from when you first met and through the years, it would be great to share those on your wedding website.
